The primary differences between hybrid and non-hybrid inverters lie in design, functionality and reliability.
Hybrid Inverters:
1. Transformerless or transformer-based
2. Integrated inverter and charge controller
3. Super efficient
3. Efficient MPPT charge controller
4. Detailed monitoring capabilities
5. Smart operation
6. Drawback: Repair challenges (50% success rate) and battery charging issues if faulty due to the inbuilt charge controller.
Non-Hybrid Inverters:
1. Mostly transformer-based
2. Separate charge controller required
3. Efficient and rugged
4. Easier repair (less impact on battery charging)
5. When faulty , it doesn’t prevent charging of battery from the solar panel due to the external charge controller.
